Walking through the airport the other day, minding my own business, and I have one of the Airtran Visa sales guys shout at me to "come over a get a free flight". Dude, really. So I'm finishing a call and just keep walking...late as usual and this guy walks in front of me and says..."you rude"...now I'm thinking "what an idiot"!
Amazing to me that I am late because of Airtran. I'm closing up a phone call to apologize for causing my meeting to be late and this cat chooses me to drop the "bon qui qui attitude" (You Tube) on me.
So being the nice guy I am, I shared my philosophical difference on which part of his anatomy he is talking with and asked him to (not so graciously) take his $8.00/hour job back behind his little desk and let me do some real business. Thinking I'm all Jack Bauer I strut off like I'm something important. Until I realize later that day that I had asked God to place someone in my path that needed a word of encouragement and a real look at how Christ makes a difference in a Christ-followers actions and reactions...OUCH!
So I go in search of this guy on my flights Sunday and then on Tuesday with no luck...but with the certainty that although the guy may have been a jerk, I had no right to be one with him. After all, I claim to be a Christ-follower, forgiven and blessed beyond measure.
It's a great shame that I chose someone God may well have handpicked for me and let him see how selfish and mean-spirited I can really be when focused on ME. Determine to be used by God to make a difference for Him. May you respond far better than I did!
