If you follow me on Twitter or Facebook then you know I am spending this week on the Beach with my family. Spring Break is a wonderful time of year. Championship basketball games, new baseball season, warmer weather, and school is almost done.
It is also an opportunity to stop, catch your breath and think through a few things in your life. So here are a few things I have thought about this week while working some, playing a lot, and enjoying my family and some friends.
1. Life really is great when you see God as great and yourself in constant need of more God and less you.
2. Anything seems conquerable when you can hear the ocean from your bedroom.
3. Every great vacation spot should include a beach and fried shrimp.
4. Without some time away from your normal routine you truly cannot appreciate God’s extraordinary creation.
5. People you work with may call you while you are on vacation, but you can tell if they really mean it when they same I’m sorry for disturbing you.
6. Family is a blessing and children are a joy. Remember when you used to get excited about going someplace new?
7. If you have to work while on vacation, be certain to turn it off so those around you can still enjoy you and the fun of vacations together.
8. Find something to brag on God about. Sunsets, oceans, thunderstorms, alligators, fish, and of course…fried shrimp.
9. Enjoy people watching! Folks will dress for the beach like nowhere else on the planet. It can really be fun.
10. Read and rest, the stack will be there when you get back, but enjoy your family and have some fun.
You know those t-shirts that have some stick figure on them that say, “life is great”? I saw a spoof of those in a store here that said, “out of coffee, life is crap”. Funny, yes; truthful, no. Life is great when our perspective is right.
May you see God for who He is and may you see yourself in need of Him.
Peace, Chuck
